What web design actually costs in Rhode Island

A plain look at what a small-business website really costs in Rhode Island, and why the monthly bill matters more than the sticker price.
There's no single price, and that's the honest part
Ask five people what a website costs and you'll get five answers somewhere between fifty dollars and fifty thousand. Both ends are real. The middle is where nobody bothers to explain the difference.
A website is a range, not a price tag. The word covers a builder page someone's nephew threw together in an afternoon, and it covers a hand-built site that brings in work on its own. Before you can budget for one, you have to know which one you're buying.
What actually moves the number
A handful of things push the price up or down. How many pages you need. Whether the design is truly yours or a stock template with your logo dropped in. What the site has to do, like take payments or let people book a time. And who does the work, from a solo builder to a small studio to an agency carrying a sales team on its books.
A five-page site for a plumber and a fifteen-page site with an online store are not the same job, so they are not the same money. Design works the same way. A template is cheap because a thousand other businesses already use it. Custom work costs more because someone drew it for you, and only you.
The three ways to get one, and what each really costs
The DIY route, Wix or Squarespace, usually runs fifteen to fifty dollars a month and you do the building. It's the cheapest way to get online. It's also the fastest way to end up with a site that looks like every other shop on the block and stalls the day you need something it wasn't built to do.
The agency route often shows up as a monthly retainer, anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars a month. You rarely own what they build, and the meter keeps running.
The middle road is the one most local owners actually want. A hand-coded site for a flat, one-time price. You pay once, you own it, and there's no subscription sitting in the background waiting to surprise you.
Why a monthly bill is the one to watch
A retainer sounds gentle until you run the math all the way out. At a thousand dollars a month, you've spent twelve thousand in a year, and you still don't own the site. For a shop in Westerly or a contractor working the shoreline, that's a real chunk of a slow winter.
The monthly number is built to feel small. The yearly number is the one to write down before you sign anything.
What we charge, plainly
We build hand-coded custom websites for a flat price. Standard is two thousand dollars, Premium is four thousand, and an online store starts at fifty-five hundred. There is no required monthly LeadLeak retainer for the build itself. Hosting, store-platform and payment costs are disclosed before work begins, and once paid in full the finished site and its project-specific code are yours.
You can see the whole thing on our flat-price custom websites page. Nothing there is a quiet 'starting at' that balloons once you're on the phone. The number you read is the number you pay.
How to know before you spend a dollar
Before you hire anyone in Rhode Island, look hard at the site you already have. Plenty of local businesses are losing calls to problems that cost nothing to spot and plenty to ignore.
That's why the scan on our site is free and finishes in a few seconds. Put your website in, see what's leaking, then decide whether two thousand dollars fixes a two-thousand-dollar problem. We're Tony and Dani, we build these by hand out of Westerly, and we'd rather you buy with your eyes open than on a promise.
